How many chances?

So, how many chances does a pitcher get before a team gives up on him. The Braves (I've been a Braves fan for approaching 3 decades now) signed Mark Redman to be their fifth starter and give them a bit of stability at the bottom of the rotation. Right! He's had 5 starts so far this season and is averaging only 4 innings per start which is tough on a bullpen, not to mention, he's given up 25 runs in those 20 innings, plus he has lost 4 of those games. The fifth one was won because the Braves scored so much in that game, he wasn't able to throw it away. His ERA is almost 11! That's ridiculous. Now, I know that you can't judge a pitcher by a couple of bad outings, but he's had 5 starts and 5 bad outings. The Braves, at 16-10, are one game behind Milwaukee for the best record in the National League. Of those 10 losses, four are a result of this pitcher. It's time to do something different.

The pitcher gets as many chances as it takes until they find someone better.
